(WSLS 10) – A former Centra Lynchburg General Hospital nurse will be sentenced today after pleading no contest to prescription drug fraud. According to the Lynchburg Commonwealth’s Attorney, Autumn Ferguson was charged with stealing Dilaudid from the hospital and replacing the painkiller with saline. Reports shows that Ferguson accessed the Acudose machines 36 times between October and November of last year. She was fired from her position in November.
Operators of the Gathright Dam near Covington will conduct a pulse release today from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Water levels in the Jackson River will increase between three and four and a half feet.
The Campbell County Department of Social Services holds an ice cream fundraiser today noon to 4 p.m. at the Social Services Building. A cup or sundae will cost $3. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Back to School Program, which provides back packs and school supplies for low income children.
Members of Lynchburg City Council and presidents of area colleges will sit down for a Town and Gown luncheon today. The meetings is an informal way for the groups to strengthen relationships and communications.
