Roanoke police arrest 21-year-old man in connection to Chapman Avenue shooting

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Roanoke police have arrested a 21-year-old Roanoke man who now faces multiple charges after Tuesday's shooting on Chapman Avenue.

Jermaine Amahd Peavy faces two counts of malicious wounding, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and one county of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Peavy previously pleaded guilty to a beating an 18-year-old with a baseball bat two years ago.

Peavy allegedly shot Ramel Abrams, 21, and Shekhera Saunderson, 21, on Tuesday afternoon.

Both were taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, according to Scott Leamon with the police department.

Leamon said both were awake and talking when police arrived.
