"Ask Me Anything" event promotes tolerance, understanding in Roanoke

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - People in Roanoke spent Tuesday breaking down barriers and getting to know strangers. An "Ask Me Anything" event was held downtown. Participants held up signs stating unique facts about themselves.

Organizers said the idea is to ask one another questions and gain a better understanding.

"The whole idea is to get people to talk with each other and have a dialogue and understand each other rather than demonize each other" said Joy Truskowski, event organizer.

Participants hopes the event encourages tolerance, openness and diversity. "Ask Me Anything" is part of Peace Week Roanoke. Events are planned throughout the week leading up to a celebration for the International Day of Peace Saturday at Villa Heights Park.
