Street dance aimed to help Fieldale Recreation Center reopen

FIELDALE (WSLS 10) - A weekend event will raise money to help reopen the Fieldale Recreation Center.

Raeburn French, the center's vice president, says the rec hall needs tens of thousands of dollars in repairs, which is why Fieldale Heritage Incorporated is holding its second annual Street Dance on Saturday, September 17 at 6 p.m.

The dance is free; however, FHI hopes those who attend can make a donation.

The Rogues, a local band, will play on the center's front lawn.

"When ‘The Rogues' were here before we've done quite well. We got a lot of donations then which was greatly appreciated," said French. "We're looking forward to a repeat and hopefully larger donations."

FHI is planning for a crowd of 2,000 people.

The money raised will go toward repairing the rec center's electrical, sewer, water and air cooling systems.
