Kathy Morris has been working with the Horne Home in Martinsville since June.

Her primary focus has been teaching the women how to cook healthy meals and how to cook meals specific to their health issues, such as making things gluten free.

"We try to teach them how to eat healthy and cook healthy, also cook safely. We teach them a lot of life skills that way," Morris explained.

Kristen Weaver lives in the home and said cooking is her favorite thing to do.

"I cook all kinds [of food]. My favorite thing is making that broccoli cornbread," said Weaver.

On Saturday, the women will put their skills to the test and cook hot dogs for their annual walk and rock fundraiser, which starts at 10 a.m. at the home.
