Round Town: festivals and food

(WSLS 10) - The Franklin County Agricultural Fair begins today. The fair includes midway rides, competitions, music, livestock shows and more. The Virginia Tourism Corporation will bring oversized LOVE artwork to the fairgrounds this year to promote tourism. This is the third year of the fair.

The Greek Festival returns to Roanoke. Enjoy moussaka, souvlaki and baklava as well as music and dancing. Admission is free, but take some cash with for the food. The festival is Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.

Before the festival begins on Saturday, run in the Mikro marathon or half marathon on Saturday. The deadline to register is 5 p.m. on Friday. The race starts on Saturday at 8 a.m.

Take part in the southwest Virginia Kidney Walk on Saturday, raising money for the National Kidney Foundation. Check in begins at 9 a.m. with the walk at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Roanoke's Fallon Park.

Head to Lynchburg on Saturday for the Fine Art Festival. More than 140 artists from throughout the region will be there displaying and selling their art. It runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at E.C. Glass High School.

Boones Mill holds its annual Apple Festival this weekend. Enjoy entertainment, a pageant, and, of course, apples. It's Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Main Street.

Enjoy a movie under the stars in Salem at Movies at Longwood. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy "Remember the Titans. The movie begins as the sun sets.
