New signs could help make Danville Riverwalk Trail safer

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) – Danville’s Riverwalk Trail could soon become a little safer.

As of Thursday, ticket sales were open for Danville Riverview Rotary’s Dun on the Dan rubber duck race on the Dan River on September 24.

The proceeds from the event will be used to pay for directional signs on the trail to help citizens and emergency personnel.

Danville police routinely patrol the trail and know it pretty well, but the department says the signs will help.

“If there were some directional signs, I’m sure that they could be of some use, either to the citizen that’s down there in explaining where they are so the officer will know where they are,” said Danville Police Department Lt. Mike Wallace.

Tickets for “Ducks on the Dan” are $5 per duck and $20 for five ducks.
