Florida man dies in Carroll County Interstate 77 tractor-trailer crash

CARROLL COUNTY (WSLS 10) – One tractor-trailer man is dead after four tractor-trailers collided on Interstate 77 on Wednesday afternoon.

State police say the crash happened at 3:55 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-77 at mile marker 22.

A tractor-trailer was traveling north when it was rear-ended by another northbound tractor-trailer, the impact of that crash caused the first tractor-trailer to strike two other tractor-trailers traveling north on I-77, according to state police.

The driver of the first tractor-trailer, Harry A. Rhodes, 43, of Miami Gardens, Fla., was ejected from his vehicle in the course of the chain-reaction crash and died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
