Pelicans shutout Hillcats in Game 3

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10 SPORTS) -

The Lynchburg Hillcats played host to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in game 3 of the Mills Cup Championship on Tuesday night.

Carolina League Pitcher of the Year Trevor Clifton was dominant on the mound for the Pelicans. He struck out five batters and allowed only three hits and no walks. Hillcats starter Luis Lugo gave up seven hits and four runs.

Myrtle Beach got it going in the first frame, as David Bote drove in Charcer Burks from second base to give the Pelicans an early 1-0 lead.

Later in the sixth Jeffrey Baez hits an RBI double to put the Pelicans up 5-0. They went on to win by a final of 7-0.

Lynchburg only had five hits in the game and were shutout for the fifth time this season. They now trail in the Mills Cup Championship Series 2-1, and face a must-win game four on Wednesday.
