Cirque du Soleil to light up Berglund Center's stage

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The stage at the Berglund Center will light up tonight for the first night of Cirque du Soleil. The newest touring show ‘Ovo' will be playing until Sunday.

The show's director said there are more than 100 people on tour. They include 50 performers, coaches, technicians and translators.

On average, the performers practice five hours every day to do stunts ranging from rock climbing to acrobatic tricks.

This show tells a love story of a lady bug and a fly.

"I want [the audience] to take away that love is one of the most important things in our life right now and that you should accept people for who they are," said the shows Artistic Director Marjon Van Grunsven. "Really if you think about it, a lady bug who falls in love with a fly doesn't really make any sense, but it happens."

Tickets are still available for each performance. Head to hometownbanktix.com to find out more information.
