ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Changes are coming to the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport due to a $4.2 million federal grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The money will be used to replace five jet bridges that are nearly 30 years old. Each new jet bridge costs about $700,000.
Amanda DeHaven, the airport's marketing and public relations administrator, said these new features will hopefully make traveling easier for passengers.
"This will provide a great amenity for our passengers," said DeHaven. "The passengers will have a heated and air-conditioned jet bridge to walk through to catch their flight or when they come back in."
The money will also help the airport buy a new luggage conveyor belt.
The upgrades are expected to be complete by next summer.
