ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10 ) - A local church isn't just getting 10-percent, but giving it back to local non-profits in the community as well.

Exalted Church in Roanoke County presented God's Pit Crew and the Growth Through Opportunity coordinator, Travis Akins, with thousand dollar checks Monday.

The pastor says it's important to partner with others making a difference.

"We're going to look at where the needs are in the valley and beyond ultimately, but starting here," said Pastor Jim Asberry.

"This actually will go a long, long way toward seeing the program continue to grow and flourish and expand into other areas, so this is huge for us," explained Akins.

Akins says the money will go directly toward a $12,000 accreditation fee GTO must pay.

Exalted Church plans to give to area non-profits each month.
