One of two suspects arrested after shots fired in downtown Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Lynchburg police have arrested one of the two men they was involved in Thursday morning's incident in downtown.

At about 9:30 a.m., police responded to the 100 block of Clay Street when shot were fired.

Police received a description of two suspects from witnesses in the area and a direction of travel and also established a perimeter and searched the area.

Dunbar Middle School, the Empowerment Academy and R.S. Payne were locked down Thursday morning as a result of the investigation. The lockdowns were lifted at about 12:45 on Thursday afternoon.

The suspects are described as black men in their 20s. The first suspect was not wearing a shirt, while the other was wearing a white t-shirt and blue shorts.

Police arrested the shirtless suspect at about 12:15 p.m. in the 500 block of Eleventh Street.

Police consider the other man armed and dangerous and say that at this time, Thursday's incident does not appear to be a random act.

No injuries have been reported in connection to this incident.
