RAM House collecting shoes to help keep shelter open

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Roanoke Area Ministries is collecting lightly worn shoes in an effort to keep the shelter open and help people in need in third-world countries.

So far, the RAM House and Funds-2-Org have collected 55 bags. Each is full of 25 pairs of shoes.

The RAM House gets $10 for every bag to help offset its recent financial struggles. The goal is to collect 300 bags to make $300.

"Our fundraiser range from $2,000 to $5,000 and everyone is very important because they add up," said Marth Snidow, the volunteer coordinator. "Anything that we can do to raise money or get donations is important to us in order to be able to stay open."

The RAM House will be collecting shoes until October 14.
