Martinsville Senior Center accepting registrations for driving safety course

MARTINSVILLE (WSLS 10) - The Martinsville Senior Center is trying to help keep older adults safer on the roads.

Registration was open Tuesday for the center's upcoming driving safety course in October.

The class is open to anyone 50 and older and will offer a refresher of basic driving skills, as well as information about the latest driving laws.

Participants will also be taught how to adjust things like their seat belt and pedals to make the car fit their needs.

"There's a lot of accidents of older folks and we're trying to keep that from happening," said Zeke Zanatos, the class's instructor. "We introduce them to things they know already, but have probably forgot."

Classes will be held from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on October 13 and 14.

The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members and participants are asked to bring a bag lunch.

Call the Martinsville Senior Center at 276-403-5260.
