ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - There are still more questions than answers for many ITT Technical Institute students affected by the school's closing.
On Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Education held a series of webinars to inform students about their options moving forward.
Many of the questions submitted were in regards to financial aid and transcripts. The discussion came one day after ITT Tech announced plans to close 130 campuses nationwide, including its Salem. Students were left scrambling to try to transfer credits or find another way to move forward with their education.
"We have no way to get our transcripts," said Amanda Powell, ITT Tech student. "No answers to what schools will accept us. No answers to what's going on with our student loans, financial aid. We don't have any answers at all."
Staff from the U.S. Department of Education said they are in discussion with ITT about transcripts. They said they are working on ways to make a transition, which could include a coordinated effort between ITT and state agencies to get students the information they need. Officials said they plan to have student fairs at the various locations to allow students to ask questions in-person.
