National Guard soldiers return home for their babies

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A picture every day, that's how one soldier is keeping in touch after the birth of his son while he's serving America.

Specialist Willie Viar is one of three Virginia National Guard soldiers who came home from deployment in Qatar as their babies were born.

New mom Breanna says having her husband home, for moments like this mean the world.

The couple had long conversations about deployment before they got married, knowing being away could be part of the job.

Willie Viar said "I believe everyone should always try to do something to put their country first so she obviously knew when we first started dating deployments were something I always wanted to do and I've always wanted to go on one."  Breanna Viar said "It's awesome. He such a great dad already he's so precious"

Sergeant Zack Karr was also home for the birth of his son, and mom Kelsey.

We're told a few other soldiers are expecting babies too, so they will be making trips home for the births as well.
