Bedford County Fair sees growth following 45-year hiatus

BEDFORD (WSLS 10) - The Bedford County Fair wrapped up over the weekend, marking the second year of the fair following a 45-year hiatus. Organizers said the event is seeing success.

Compared to 2015, this year's fair expanded from three days to four. Organizers said roughly 16,000 people attended this year which is up from about 15,000 last year. The fair included food, rides, a livestock show and educational events.

"The crowd this year was really different. I felt like people were intentional with their time and our vendors were thrilled with the results," said Bedford County Fair Superintendent Joy Powers. "I feel there were so many things that fairgoers took away, not just the midway, but from the educational components as well".

Organizers are already looking forward to next year's event and hope to make additions to help attract more people.
