Battle at Bristol Week Arrives!

BLACKSBURG (WSLS-10 SPORTS)  - It was the kind of thought that was kicked around like a four-daywork week.  Nice idea, with no clear path to reality.

Well this week, thanks to some special people-- The Battle at Bristol decades in the making, will actually happen.

Yeah a man named Frank Beamer he has always been in the mix,  he was always for this game. But the others behind that-- our chairman Bruton Smith and our CEO Marcus Smith-- they're the ones that wouldn't let it die, " explains Bristol Speedway General Manager Jerry Caldwell.

The Hokies bring what can be termed a developing offense, with a quarterback that's gaining confidence to Saturday's game.

Will it be enough..to handle the SEC East favorite Vols? Coach Justin Fuente says his team will definitely have to play at a higher level.

"You could improve a lot and maybe not be able to tell when you take a step up like we're going to take a step.  iI mean that's just the facts of it," says Hokies coach Justin Fuente.   But a comeback, and an overtime victory--assured that the Battle at Bristol will include a pair of undefeated teams, and a venue that will be sure to drop some jaws.

Woody Baron, Hokies defensive lineman, explains- "I went by one time and the gates were unlocked so i just kind of invited myself in.  I just saw a huge stadium,  i mean it was unfathomably huge.  There was the press box that went all the way around on the top.  It's just ginormous," spilled the Hokies defensive lineman.

The largest crowd ever to see a college football game in person will gather Saturday.  Gentlemen..start your engines, indeed.
