Lynchburg police investigating 2 malicious wounding cases

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Lynchburg police are investigating two separate malicious wounding cases. Police said at approximately 2:20 a.m. officers responded to Lynchburg General Hospital after a male subject arrived at the emergency room suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Police said the male victim was identified as Raheem Jefferson, age 19, of Lynchburg.

According to police, Jefferson reported leaving a party in the 6100 block of Fort Avenue before the shooting took place. He was admitted to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Multiple shots fired calls were received at approximately 12:55 a.m. Sunday in the area of the 7100 and 7200 blocks of Timberlake Road, which is a short distance from the 6100 block of Fort Avenue.

In a separate incident, at approximately 2:35 a.m. Sunday officers with the Lynchburg Police Department responded to Lynchburg General Hospital after a male subject arrived at the emergency room suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The male victim was identified as El'Gamond Morrison, age 25, of Lynchburg. Police said he reported leaving a residence in the 2000 block of Main Street when he was shot.
