Lynchburg police investigating armed robbery at Check First Cash Advance

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Lynchburg police are investigating a reported armed robbery at the Check First Cash Advance in Lynchburg that happened Friday afternoon.

On Friday at about 12:34 p.m., police responded to 3701 Fort Avenue for a reported armed robbery.

During the robbery a man entered the store carrying a leather portfolio as if he had paperwork with him, according to police. This same man had been in the store 15 minutes prior to the robbery, asking the clerk what paperwork he needed to get a loan.

Police said that once the man returned with what the clerk thought was his paperwork, the clerk turned to get an application. When the clerk turned back, the subject had a handgun pointed at them and demanded money.

The man then left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, exiting left out the front door heading into the direction of Fort Avenue.

Police say the suspect is a light-skinned black man in his mid-20s who is about 6-feet-tall with a medium build and weighs somewhere between 180 and 200 pounds. At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing a white t-shirt, long black shorts, and a do-rag on his head, under a black baseball hat. The suspect's face was unshaven.

No one was injured during this incident.

Police say there are no pictures of the suspect available at this time.
