Foamhenge leaving Natural Bridge

NATURAL BRIDGE (WSLS 10) - Tuesday marks the last day of Foamhenge in Natural Bridge.

What started out as an April Fools' joke back in 2004 has been visited by many tourists during the last 12 years. During its history, it's even been mentioned on game shows and TV shows.

With Natural Bridge planning on becoming a state park in September, Foamhenge had to go.

Although it's leaving Natural Bridge, it's moving to Cox Farms in Centreville, Virginia.

Originally, Mark Cline, the creator and owner of the exhibit, wanted to give it to a small town as a tourist attraction; however, that idea didn't pan out.

Once people realized it was going to be moved, Cline had inquiries from all over the country from people wanting to buy it. He was hoping it would continue its mission to generate tourist dollars for a small community; however in the end ended up selling it to Cox Farms.

Cline believes it will be a good fit there.

Even though Foamhenge has to move, Cline is excited about Natural Bridge transitioning to a state park.

He believes the increase in tourists from the transition will help his newest adventure, Dinosaur Kingdom II, which opened earlier this summer.

Foamhenge is now being dismantled piece-by-piece and will be stored in Cline's studio for a few months before being moved to Cox Farms.;
