Byrd's Basham runs to Week 1 Player of the Week honor

ROANOKE (WSLS-10 SPORTS) - In what amounted to a night full of upsets, and emotional rivalries William Byrd played steady football.  Their county clash with Cave Spring could have been close, had it not been for the efforts of Terrier Larry Basham.

The junior running back actually fought off a case of the cramps to ramble for 260 yards. Basham found the end zone 5 times in the William Byrd 42-14 win over the Knights.

Basham carried 31 times and scored on rush of 5, 22, 6, 2, and 50 yards, as coach Jeff Highfill's team opened with a resounding victory. In doing so the Terriers Larry Basham is our Schewels 1st and 10 Player of the Week.
