Woman holds dedication ceremony 6 months after tornado hit Appomattox County

APPOMATTOX COUNTY (WSLS10) - Six months after an EF-3 tornado ripped through Appomattox County one woman is now back in her home. About 20 people including family and friends attended a home dedication ceremony Sunday.

"I give God glory for everything that has been done," Linda Watkins the homeowner said.

Watkins said she was home, watching television minutes before the tornado hit in February.

"I was just thinking oh lord have mercy Jesus, I got up called my sister; I'm reaching for the bible and a pillow and went into the bathtub and started praying to God," Watkins said.

She said her home was one of countless others in Appomattox County where state leader estimate tens of millions of dollars in damage.

Watkins said she's grateful the community offered to help clean up.

Rodney Mason, according to Watkins was one person who offered to pitch in and help rebuild her home.

Mason who owns, RD Mason Construction said he had a team of 5 guys to help rebuild Watkins 3 bedroom 2 full bathroom home.

Mason said it took about 4 months to rebuild.

"It feels really good, Ms. Watkins, you couldn't ask for a nicer person to work for," Mason said.
