Motorcycle collides with ambulance in Roanoke County

SALEM (WSLS 10) - Salem Police are investigating a crash involving a motorcycle and a Roanoke County ambulance.

The crash happened around 2:25 Sunday afternoon in the 1800 block of West Main Street.

Police said the ambulance, from Ft. Lewis Station Number 9, was transporting a patient to LewisGale Medical Center at the time of the crash.

The motorcycle and the ambulance were both traveling in the same direction and the rescue vehicle's emergency lights and siren were being used at the time.

The 50-year-old male driver of the motorcycle, who lives in Salem, was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in stable condition, according to Salem Police.

No one in the ambulance was hurt.

The crash remains under investigation and ongoing charges are pending.
