Fort Campbell identifies soldier arrested on post after shots fired

WKRN Web Staff – FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (WKRN) – Fort Campbell has identified the solider arrested Wednesday after two shots were fired at the post's airfield.

Spc. Bryan Castillo is a 23-year-old UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter repairer. He has been at Fort Campbell since September 2013.

Army officials say formal charges have yet to be filed against Castillo, who is currently being held at the Montgomery County jail.

He was arrested after allegedly firing two shots near the Campbell Army Airfield and fleeing the scene in his personal car to his on-post home. He was then taken into custody.

The situation lasted about 30 minutes and was handled quickly by installation law enforcement.

Motive for the shooting is still unknown, but the investigation is ongoing.
