Duo arrested, charged with abducting Bassett man

MARTINSVILLE (WSLS 10) - The Henry County Sheriff's Office arrested two men it says broke into a home and took a man against his will.

On August 25, 2016 at about 8:56 a.m., the Martinsville/Henry County Emergency 911 Center received a call of an assault and abduction that took place in the 200 block of Friendship Circle in Bassett.

The caller said that two men broke into the home, assaulted 41-year-old Michael Harold Nunn, of Bassett, and took him from the home against his will.

Deputies from the Henry County Sheriff's Office located and stopped the suspect's vehicle on Archway Road in Bassett at 9:18 a.m. Michael Nunn was located inside the vehicle being driven by the two men.

While being held, property was taken from Nunn and he suffered wounds to his legs and head. He refused to seek medical treatment. The incident stemmed from a dispute over illegal narcotics.

James Brandon Hancock, 29, of Bassett, and George Wilson Cobbler III, 32, of Roanoke,  were arrested and charged with breaking and entering, abduction, malicious wounding and robbery; all charges are felonies.

Both are jailed in the Henry County Jail without bond.
