Franklin County Looks for Bounce back Season

ROCKY MOUNT (WSLS-10 SPORTS)- The HS Camp tour rolls into Franklin County, where the Eagles were winless in 2015 but hoping to return to past glory--now in their second season with head coach J.R. Edwards. The Eagles put together three nine-win playoff seasons from 2009 to 2011 under former coach Chris Jones--who is now coaching in Covington. Coach Edwards begins his second season with a team that looks to last year as motivation, to prove they are a better team than a year ago. but they didn't just start working when fall camp started. It's been a year round off-season full of lifting, conditioning, team bonding and 'seven on seven' drills. The Eagles hope their hard word and experience shows in their season opener Friday night against Liberty.

"With the experience we have a lot of returning starters so last year we were implementing a lot of our offense and defense and this year it's pretty much just review.  So we just want to come out this season and prove to everybody that we can win," says Senior Right Tackle Kyle Adams.

"It's their first chance to redeem themselves from the season that we had a year ago and that should be all the driving I need.  I think they're pretty excited about it and they are ready to get after it," says Coach J.R. Edwards.

In the last meeting between the Minutemen and the Eagles, Liberty was victorious 16-7. Kickoff is set for 7pm Friday.
