SALEM (WSLS-10 SPORTS) - Roanoke College unveiled its new state of the art athletic and academic complex--the Cregger Center. The 155-thousand square foot facility houses a total of 12 locker rooms, a new arena with a capacity of 25-hundred, along with the belk fitness center. It also has a meter indoor track, a health and human performance lab, thw HHP classrooms and Athletic department offices.
30.5 million dollars were raised for construction, and it will have an estimated economic impact 1.4 mil annually. It also becomes a major recruiting tool for the Maroons to bring top-notch talent to Salem.
"You talk about going into a gunfight with a gun and we're going into it with the canon and now we've got a nice selling point so there's a lot to promote about Roanoke College," says new head Men's basketball coach Clay Nunley.
"It's huge I mean I haven't seen a facility like this at any level especially for Division III, so we're walking high-caliber quality student-athletes for this facility and what I look for and what I love is seeing you just see them break into a smile there isn't anything like it," says women's basketball coach Carla Flaherty.
