Latest Danville homicide highlights deadly trend

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - Only four times since 2005 has there been more than seven homicides in Danville in a single year.

The latest homicide happened around 10:30 Saturday night at the Southwyck Hills Apartments.

Police responded for a report of a shooting and found 33 year old Christopher Lamont Motley outside building 124.

In 2005, 2009, and 2011 there were eight homicides in Danville.

In 2008, there were 10 homicides.

Last year there were six, doubled from 2014.

Saturday's homicide makes seven for 2016 and there are still four months left in the year.

WSLS reached out to the Danville Police Department MOnday to try to get more information on Saturday's homicide but no one was available for comment.
