RICHMOND (WSLS 10) - Some 13,000 convicted felons in Virginia who've served their time are about to get their right to vote restored.
Governor Terry McAuliffe is expected to make the announcement Monday.
McAuliffe issued a sweeping executive order in April restoring voting rights to more than 200,000 felons.
Republicans said he'd overstepped his authority, and that he was trying to add Democrat-friendly voters to the rolls ahead of the November presidential election.
The executive order also mistakenly included sex offenders and several convicted murderers.
GOP legislative leaders took him to court and won.
McAuliffe vowed to use an autopen to individually sign orders restoring voting rights.
With the first 13,000 expected to be announced Monday.
He's also expected to reveal plans to restore rights to the remainder of the 200,000.
