Danville native helps disperse flood relief in Louisiana

COVINGTON, LOUISIANA (WSLS 10) -Ā Several loads of relief supplies from God's Pit Crew arrived in Louisiana Thursday afternoon.

Danville native Mike Newcomb moved to Covington, Louisiana three years ago to pastor a church there.

He sent video of abandoned cars and flooded homes he shot on his phone in the midst of helping distribute the donations from Southside Virginia.

"Danville Virginia is my hometown," Newcomb explained. "I know the people there in Southside Virginia, Central Virginia they just have giving hearts. I just want to ask the people to reach deep inside this is a time that we can shine."

Newcomb says the biggest need right now in the area is financial and man power to gut homes before mold sets in.

Another load of supplies will pull out of Danville Friday to head south.
