Roanoke Red Cross volunteers head to Baton Rouge to assist in flood relief

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Red Cross volunteers from the Star City are on their way to assist with flood relief in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The trio left Wednesday afternoon and plan to rebuild homes, assess flood damage and prepare meals for those in need.

Volunteer Doug Hardymon said this isn't his first relief deployment.

"I think what happens is your adrenaline gets running and you're really just block it out of your mind because you're really just focused in on what you're there to do, to help people," said Hardymon. "And that's what the American Red Cross is all about, is helping people."
