Golden Eagles Single Wing Taking Hold

MONETA (WSLS-10 SPORTS)- The Golden Eagles soared to new heights in 2015, making their first playoff appearance in four seasons. They reached the quarterfinal round before losing to eventual state champion Magna Vista. Coach Chuck Poston says their success took some teams by surprise.

"We got on a good run down the stretch and you know what people who don't get to see us play a whole lot in a way we presented some problems for me but you know ultimately we didn't make it where we wanted to be so that's been a driving force for the offseason," explains Poston.

The team continues to yield rich results behind its signature single wing offense. In 7 of 13 games last season the Golden Eagles scored forty or more points.  A pivotal part of that success comes from the run game anchored by Grayson Overstreet. He's among the area's best in the backfield, rushing for 3,300 yards in two seasons.

"The only reason I have good success is because of my line. They are all my boys and they all block good for me and I give them love every time I score a touchdown, " says Grayson Overstreet.

The Golden Eagles say it was nice to make it to the playoffs for the first time in four years but now the key is to finish not only in games but also here at practice.

"Finish every set, every minute, every drill,l finish every practice-- and hopefully we make it we get to finish the season or where we all want to be," says Poston.

Without a doubt the one game on the minds of the team is the October 28th matchup against Rockbridge County, as brothers Mark and Chuck Poston go head to head.

"I know it's going to be a tough football game cuz I know that my brother is one of the best football coaches I've ever met.   I know he'll have his kids ready and I'll be sure to have mine ready," says Poston.
