PULASKI COUNTY (WSLS 10) Emergency crews from across the Commonwealth are in the New River Valley sharpening their skills in case a real emergency happens.
It's part of a training exercise designed to get emergency crews from Southwest and Central Virginia better prepared in case natural disaster happens in this case --- finding hikers, victims in a flood.

"Stabalize an incident, locate missing persons, manage it in a timely manner with many resources from out of the area," Josh Tolbert, with Pulaski County Emergency Management said .
Tolbert said this exercise is good for his team and another reason the exercise is vital is because county leaders said they've had to rescue people in the Max Creek area in the past.
"This particular area that we are standing in, in the max creek area of Pulaski County has had flash flooding before, so this is a great place to have this drill," Andy McCready, the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors said.
Other leaders are glad this will emergency crews be better prepared and help save lives.
"very much appreciate the work as far as everyone coming here, and being involved and appreciate the scenario that's being built by the local emergency management," Pete Hubert, Pulaski County Administrator said.
