Cave Spring Brings Deeper, More Experienced Squad to 2016 Campaign

ROANOKE (WSLS-10 SPORTS)-  The high school camp tour stops at the home of the Knights, where a 2-8 mark a year ago fell well below expectations.

It was one of those seasons where you play a ton of young guns, take your lumps,  then load up for the future.

Coach Tim Fulton's gang hasn't forgotten that they missed the playoffs for the first time since 2008.They played a ton of underclassmen in 2015, so they much more experienced heading into this year's campaign.

And despite playing in the always rugged River Ridge District, the Knights goals include a return to the postseason.

"The kids took the challenge you know last year wasn't the kind of year we become accustomed to realize that they realize that we need to go to work and obviously you set goals and have you seen the kids do certainly want to return to the playoffs," says coach Fulton.

"It's just the work ethic--we've been in the weight room all year, the whole rest of the team has been there and we're just working every day to get better, " says knights defensive tackle Tom Milby.

Cave Spring opens the season with a home contest against William Byrd on August 26th.
