(WSLS 10) - It is the first day of school for Botetourt County and Montgomery County schools.

Blacksburg Town Council meets tonight to talk about the North Main Street / Route 460 Bypass. This has been the site of multiple deaths and injuries over the last ten years.  Leaders have come up with several different plans. Each one differs in where exactly the interchange comes in, and what roads they connect with.  Nearly 300 people attended last month's community meeting... and the town received more than 250 written comments.   New this morning we're learning what those comments said.  Half of the people who responded said option 2 was their preference... this is one of the routes that eliminates the 460 Bypass/Bishop Road intersection.  Roundabouts were generally opposed... because of the additional cost and that they didn't like roundabouts.   Town council will submit a final proposal in September, and should find out next year if the Commonwealth Transportation Board will pay for the project.
