FRANKLIN COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The Franklin County Sheriff's Office arrested a Henry man who was allegedly trying to have sex with a 15-year-old girl.

On Tuesday, at about 4 p.m., Scott Maul, 32, of Henry, arrived to pick up who he thought was a 15-year-old girl he had been communicating with online and solicited for sex.

However, when Maul, who works on Grassy Hill as a maintenance man at NexHaul, a small trailer manufacturer in the old Cooper Wood complex, arrived, he was arrested without incident and was taken before a magistrate where he was held without bond.

Maul is charged with using a computer to solicit a child 15 years or older. That is a felony crime.

The sheriff's office cautions parents to keep a close watch on the social media sites their children are communicating on. KiK and Snapchat are known locations that law enforcement have encountered pedophiles looking to entice children to send inappropriate photographs or to lure them out for an encounter.

Sheriff Bill Overton would ask any parent that senses that their children may be at risk to contact the sheriff's office for assistance
