LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Lynchburg's Firefighter's Memorial Fountain in Miller Park could soon get some much-needed upgrades.

The fire department is working to raise $50,000 to secure a grant that will match the money raised dollar-for-dollar.

If enough is raised, the memorial could receive improvements like upgraded electric wiring and plumbing, as well as new landscaping and fencing.

The fountain was built in downtown in 1883 and moved to Miller Park in the 1920's.

The fundraising campaign continues through October.
