Lynchburg 18-year-old arrested after robbbery

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Lynchburg police charged an 18-year-old man with multiple counts after a robbery late Thursday night.

On August 4, at about 11:45 p.m., police responded to the 1300 block of Garfield Avenue to investigate the robbery of a person that had reportedly just occurred.

When officers arrived on the scene, the victim, a woman, said that four individuals approached her and stole some of her belongings.

The suspects then got into a vehicle and drove away.

That vehicle, was located and stopped by officers near the Park Avenue U-Haul shortly after the incident.

One of the passengers of the vehicle, 18 year-old Antonio Maurice Williams Jr., of Lynchburg, was taken into custody and arrested for strong-arm robbery, possession of stolen credit card, deface/destroy serial number on firearm and possession of a concealed weapon.

Some of the victim's belonging were recovered during the vehicle stop.

At this time, the other three occupants of the vehicle have not been charged. The investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges are pending. No one was harmed during the incident.
