Henry County Schools in food, book desert and need school supplies

HENRY COUNTY (WSLS 10) – Henry County Schools are in a food and book desert considered a high poverty area. Teachers say most children do not understand the gravity of that poverty because of community donations.

The director of community outreach says donating school supplies is one way the community can join them in supporting students as they work towards their own personal success

“Even a new pencil can make a huge difference in the life of a child and you never know what that pencil is going to write under the direction of a student’s mind and how that mind will develop to one day not only lead our community but to change our world in someway so that one pencil that you give can really impact the life of a child,” Monica Hatchett, Henry County Schools Community Outreach.

Henry County Schools need notebook paper the most because of the number of things it’s used for like essays, math and taking notes.
