Bedford County woman faces 70 charges in embezzlement investigation

BEDFORD (WSLS 10) - Police have charged a Bedford County woman with 70 felonies as part of an embezzlement investigation.

Rhonda Renay Overstreet was charged with 22 counts of forgery, 22 counts of uttering, 22 counts of obtaining money by false pretense, two counts of credit card theft and two counts of embezzlement.

On June 7, the Bedford Police Department received a complain of possible embezzlement from Croft Senior Services, which is in the town of Bedford.

Based on the complaint, information received from each of the victims, to include Croft Senior Services and interviews, probable cause was found to charge Overstreet.

The 70 charges cover incidents that allegedly occurred in 2015 and 2016.

There were three victims identified: Croft Senior Services, the owner of Croft Senior Services and a third individual with no ties to the company.

Police arrested Overstreet on Friday, July 29 and she has been released on bond.
