DANVILLE (WSLS10) - A Danville organization is trying to help people in Southside with disabilities celebrate the summer before the season ends. Stonewall Therapeutic Recreation Center held a block party Saturday.
People of all ages were able to dance and gather at the center. Pizza, hot dogs, and cotton candy were served. The center's intern, Lakeeyah Mullins, planned the event as part of her internship requirements and says she thought this would be a fun way to help everyone work on their social skills.
"Not many people get to go to the beach or get to come out of the house in general, so I decided to bring the beach to them at Stonewall," Mullins explained.
A bounce house and water activities were also set up.
