(WSLS 10) - The U.S. Highway 21 Road Market returns to southwest Virginia this weekend. It's a 100 mile market that extends from Wytheville into Grayson County before crossing into North Carolina. You will find hundreds of yard sales, side walk sales and community events along the route. According to the Wythe County Tourism Director, last year's event provided a big boost to local businesses.

Smith Mountain Lake continues celebrating its 50th anniversary today with a Picnic Jamboree at Willard Amphitheatre. There will be a mini food truck rodeo as well as craft beer, wine and music. Low Low Chariot is the opening act. Tickets are $10 with proceeds benefitting the Skelton 4-H Center.

The Town of Rocky Mount dedicates the Pigg River Bridge on South Main Street today. The bridge will be named the Peter Saunders Veteran's Memorial Bridge in honor of Colonel Peter Saunders and the Veteran's Memorial Park.

The Roanoke main post office launches the President's "Made In Rural America Initiative" today. The Postal Service will offer a series of local workshops to encourage export growth in rural America. The workshops are designed for small to medium-sized organizations and will show how the U.S. Postal Service can help companies looking to export their goods. Today's workshop starts at 10 a.m.

The Huge Kids Sale kicks off today in Salem. It's a consignment sale, allowing parents to sell the clothes their kids have outgrown and get a little bit of cash in return. If you're looking to get some deals, you can go shopping today at the Salem Civic Center from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The sale continues tomorrow.

Today is the last day of the Roanoke County Fire Marshal's Office annual Character Academy for Kids. The three day camp teaches middle school aged kids about safety while also teaching them good character. The kids have taken part in a low ropes course, fire hose games and a 911 center tour. This is the 12 year of the event.
