Radford Police investigating a string of vehicle break-ins

RADFORD (WSLS 10) - There have been several reports of cars being vandalized and broken into in the City of Radford.

One was even stolen.

Right now, police say they don't have a suspect.

WSLS 10 spoke with a man who lives along Preston Street in Radford.

He did not want to be identified, but says he's never seen this amount of crime in one week in his five years of living there.

He says in addition to the window of his car being smashed, his friend had a window in his house shot out by a BB gun.

Police have confirmed that these crimes have all happened this week within about a 10 block radius in the area of preston street.

The car that was reported stolen was last seen on the 800 block of 12th street.

Right now, police say the two reported cases of vandalism and damage to cars along preston are related, and believe juveniles may be to blame.

"I do believe they are probably linked. Same time-frame, they were reported at the same time, so we definitely think those two are related... We've taken the initial report from the officers on-scene, they've taken photographs of the damage, and then they'll pass it along to the detectives to follow up with to see if there's a pattern or any suspects develop," said Lt. Andy Wilburn.

Wilburn says right now, the department is treating the car theft and the shot-out window as separate incidents as they were reported at later dates farther away from Preston Street.

If you do know anything about these incidents, or witness anything in the Preston Street area, police are asking you to call the Radford Police Department at (540) 731-3624.
