Six-month-old hospitalized after signs of child abuse

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A 6-month-old boy was hospitalized after he was found unresponsive and believed to be abused, according to search warrants.

Warrants filed by the Roanoke City Police Department reveal Joshua D. Overstreet was found unresponsive on July 24 in Northwest Roanoke.

A caretaker called 911 to a home on 1118 Gilmer Ave N.W. in Roanoke when the boy was found.

When EMS arrived, they found the child not breathing on his own. Joshua was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he was put on life support.

Search warrants reveal that he was found with injuries consistent with child abuse.

The incident is an open child abuse and neglect investigation with the Roanoke City Police Department.
