Businesses in Altavista show support to law enforcement

ALTAVISTA (WSLS 10) - Business owners in Altavista are showing their appreciation for law enforcement.

Businesses like SOVA Firearms, Miller's Jewelry and Village Barbershop are participating in the "Thin Blue Line" initiative.

The goal is to provide law enforcement a safe haven where they can have a location to break away from protecting and serving the community.

"I'm hoping that other people in the community will get behind of the law enforcement officers and support them as well show their support, let the local law enforcement know that the community is backing them 100 percent," said Thomas Paige, co-owner of SOVA Firearms.

"Everyone likes to feel support, everyone likes to be liked to a certain extent, this kind of affirmation is just really important for the confidence of not just my men and women but police officers everywhere," said Altavista Police Chief Mike Milnor.

The owner of SOVA Firearms is challenging other businesses in the town of Altavista to show their support as well.
