CARROLL COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Virginia State Police responded to a tractor-trailer crash on Tuesday in Carroll County.

A God's Pit Crew driver was traveling north on I-77  when he hydroplaned, causing the vehicle to run off the left side of the interstate, run through several hundred feet of guard rail and go down a steep embankment according to police.

The tractor-trailer stopped at the bottom of a ravine.

A detour was set up so the tractor-trailer could be removed from the ravine and for VDOT to make necessary guard rail and roadway repairs.

The driver, William S. Allgood, 68, of Ringgold, Va., was not injured in the crash.

He was on the way to the Smoky Mountain Home for Children in Sevierville, Tennessee. The truck was loaded with 35,000 pounds of relief supplies for flood victims.
