Pittsylvania County man sentenced to nine years for shooting at deputy

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Ronald Clark has been sentenced to nine years for shooting at a Pittsylvania County Deputy.

Clark was sentenced on three charges related to the shooting.

For the shooting at an occupied vehicle charge, he was sentenced to 10 years with nine suspended; for the attempted capital murder charge, he was sentenced to 30 years with 25 years suspended; for the use of a firearm in attempted murder charge, he was sentenced to three years.

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office said Deputy Truman Moore went to a home on Rocksprings Road in Ringgold on September 25, 2015, to serve a protective order related to a domestic assault complaint.

As Moore drove away, he heard gunfire and what sounded like a bullet hitting his vehicle. The deputy said he took defensive action, getting out of the car, and saw a bullet hit the back passenger door.
