Local medical school helps kids in Dominican Republic

CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) - A group of Montgomery County medical students spent the day packing supplies to help kids in another country.

The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg is sending medical equipment to the Dominican Republic.

The Oscar de la Renta Veron Pediatric Clinic is under construction there. It will be the only general care facility for children in that area.The clinic will be about the size of a football field.

It will be staffed by VCOM doctors, and is expected to open in November.
